Netflix has announced an animated spin-off series titled 'Stranger Things: Tales from '85', with a planned release date of April 23, 2026. The streamer revealed key details about the project and its setting as part of the franchise's continuing expansion.
The new series is a spin-off of the original Stranger Things and is set chronologically between the second and third seasons. Unlike the live-action original, this instalment will be produced in animation. The storyline takes place during the winter of 1985 in the town of Hawkins, where inhabitants face a new threat in the form of plant-like creatures emerging from the Upside Down.
Stranger Things originally premiered in 2016 and has enjoyed strong audience approval, holding an average score of 8.7 out of 10 on IMDb and 8.4 out of 10 on Kinopoisk. The first half of the show's fifth season was released on November 26, 2025, and the season concluded with its final episode on December 31, 2025.
