Ilya Osipov, better known by his in-game name m0NESY, the AWPer for Team Falcons, commented on Valve's decision to change the competitive map pool in CS2. He believes Train should not have been taken out and that one of the older maps — Inferno, Mirage or Dust2 — would have been a more appropriate choice to remove.

m0NESY explained his view in more detail: "I like Anubis, but I think Train shouldn't have been removed. They should have removed Inferno, Mirage or Dust2 — one of the old maps. Inferno is not the best map for competitive play — according to all snipers." He also criticized Anubis from a team-play perspective: "Anubis isn't the best for coordinated play either. As a CT on Anubis you don't want to play with an AWP anywhere, because grenade-based attacks can control the whole map. It feels like you're always being put in a sandwich. But I think the decision about Train was unfair."
Valve has confirmed that Anubis will return to the competitive map pool with the start of CS2's fourth season. The exact date for the season start has not been announced. Anubis will replace Train, which had been part of the pool for less than a year.
Earlier, m0NESY was unable to claim the 'Best AWPer of the Year' title at the HLTV Awards 2025; the award went to Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut.
Discussion around map rotations and their impact on team strategies and AWP playability continues within the community as the fourth season approaches and the official pool is updated.
