Developer Wildlight Entertainment has announced that it will discontinue support for the team shooter Highguard. The studio shared the decision on its social media channels, confirming that active development and support for the title will cease in the coming weeks.
According to the announcement, more than two million players tried Highguard during its lifetime, but the game failed to establish a sustainable, long-term audience that would justify ongoing support. The studio said the final update will be released on March 4 and will introduce a new playable character, account progression systems, and talent trees.
Following that last patch, the servers for Highguard are scheduled to be shut down on March 12. After that date players will no longer be able to access the game online or use its multiplayer features.
Highguard originally launched on January 26, 2026, on PC, Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5. Critical reception was mixed: the title holds an average press score of 65 out of 100 on review aggregator sites, while user ratings have been far lower, averaging roughly 2.5 out of 10.
The game saw a strong initial player peak on Steam, reaching around 97,000 concurrent players at launch, but that number declined rapidly and settled into much lower daily averages of roughly 400–600 concurrent users before the decision to end support was announced.
