Dota 2 streamer Aren Zurabyan, better known as VeRsuta, recently spoke about live broadcasts and fellow content creators, arguing that genuine viewers are not as crucial for streamers as many assume. An excerpt from his broadcast was later picked up and circulated by the Dota community outlet Dota PMA.
Speaking broadly about audience dynamics, Zurabyan said he does not worry about losing viewers: he is confident he will always attract a substantial real audience because of his name and personality. In his words, he expects to remain interesting to watch regardless of how many problematic accounts or bots are banned from his channel.
The comments came against the backdrop of a wider inquiry into artificially inflated viewer numbers on Dota 2 streams. In early February, blogger Morf published an investigation into apparent on‑line manipulation on Twitch that mentioned VeRsuta among other streamers.
On March 5, Morf followed up with a further published report describing alleged viewcount boosting affecting several content creators, including Alexander “Nix” Levin and Sergey "LenaGol0vach" Karnaukhov, as well as additional streamers. The topic has continued to prompt discussion in the Dota community about transparency and audience metrics for streamers.
