Cooperative horror R.E.P.O. adds 'King of the Losers' racing mode and new cosmetics; release date not announced

Studio semiwork has announced a set of new additions for the cooperative horror game R.E.P.O., revealing a competitive mode alongside other content planned for a future update. The developers outlined the core ideas behind the new features and how they will change the multiplayer experience.

The headline addition is a mode called King of the Losers. Its gameplay is compared to kart-style racing: players compete on tracks filled with obstacles and unusual terrain, using movement and environmental interaction to gain the advantage. Competitors will be able to jostle one another on the road, cut opponents off and try to push rivals beyond the course boundaries as they race to the finish.

Beyond the new race mode, the upcoming update will introduce fresh cosmetic items for characters and equipment, allowing players to customize their appearance. The studio has not provided a precise release date for the update yet, so the timing of these additions remains to be announced.

R.E.P.O. is a six-player cooperative horror game that emphasizes physical interaction between players and the game world. It launched in Early Access on Steam on February 26, 2025, and quickly gained popularity among players for its social, physics-driven gameplay.
