Russian pro Vladislav “nafany” Gorshkov praises CS2 reload tweak and urges Valve to fix other issues

Russian esports player Vladislav “nafany” Gorshkov commented on a recent Counter-Strike 2 update that altered the weapon reload mechanic. He shared his thoughts in a post on Telegram, calling the change positive while also expressing broader hopes for the game’s development team to address outstanding problems.

In his message nafany described his view as potentially unpopular but said the ammo-related update is great. He argued that over the past three to four years the developers have been moving the game toward a more casual direction with features such as visible indicators on the map showing where you can be heard, and that the new 2026 change, while minor, makes gameplay slightly more complex.

Nafany suggested the update likely will not dramatically affect top professionals — he mentioned names like niko, ropza, zaivu and aksela as examples — but warned that less experienced players might struggle or encounter new difficulties because of the alteration to reload behavior.

He also expressed hope that now, with this change implemented, Valve will use the opportunity to tackle other priorities: deploy a working anti-cheat, complete improvements to the sub-tick system, release a new operation, and generally continue refining the game.

Valve rolled out a major patch overnight on March 19. One of the key adjustments changed how reloading works: any bullets remaining in a magazine are now discarded when you reload. The developers said this was intended to encourage players to think more carefully about the timing of magazine swaps.

The community reaction is mixed: some appreciate the added tactical consideration, while others are concerned about the increased potential for mistakes by newer players. Nafany’s post reflects both an acceptance of the tweak and a wish that Valve will follow up with fixes and features that address the game’s larger issues.
