Professional CS2 player Danil Golubenko, known as "molodoy," commented on the recent adjustments to the competitive map pool. The FURIA Esports sniper shared his thoughts in a message to the CS2NEWS Telegram channel, discussing how the changes affect his team and expressing personal map preferences.
According to molodoy, Train was a very strong map for his team — perhaps even one of their best. By contrast, Anubis in its state before the most recent update, when it had previously been removed, was not among the top maps for them. That said, the return of Anubis is a mixed development: on one hand it may be less favorable for his team’s strengths, but on the other it is notable because a teammate, Marik, is known to really like playing Anubis.
Molodoy also voiced a clear wish to see Cache added to the competitive pool. He explained that Cache suits his AWP playstyle particularly well; the map offers many opportunities to use the rifle effectively, and he would welcome its reinstatement as soon as possible.
On January 10 it was announced that Anubis will indeed return to the CS2 competitive map pool, replacing Train. Tournament organizers BLAST and ESL confirmed that the new map lineup will take effect at their early-season events, beginning with BLAST Bounty Winter 2026 and continuing at IEM Rio 2026.
