Esoteric Ebb, a role-playing game created in the spirit of Disco Elysium, has received an official release date. The game is set to debut on Steam on March 3.
The story opens in the city of Norvik, which is holding its first elections just as someone detonates a tea shop. With no one else willing to touch the case with a ten‑foot pole, you and your goblin companion Snell are drawn into a political conspiracy that needs unraveling.
Players will explore the streets and tunnels of a sprawling fantasy city, encountering a cast of strange and memorable characters. Expect contentious exchanges with devils and drunken sphinxes, along with plenty of other fantastical eccentrics in a world where mythological beings hawk newspapers in corner shops and competing ideologies eclipse the ramblings of dead gods.
Mechanically, Esoteric Ebb presents itself as an isometric 5e CRPG set in a distinctive fantasy milieu. You take on the role of a Priest — a failed Palace bureaucrat and specialist in esoteric phenomena — who arrives in the city’s heart with half a river in their boots and an undeniable inability to remove their helmet.
Without official backing, your investigation of the tea shop proceeds by stepping on as many toes as necessary, making choices that shape both the mystery and the city’s unfolding political landscape.
Esoteric Ebb is available to add to wishlists on Steam, and a free demo has been released as part of the "Let Games Be" festival, allowing players to sample the title ahead of its full launch.
