Veteran Canadian‑American actress Catherine O'Hara has died at the age of 71, Variety reported, citing her manager and her agency, CAA.
According to her representatives, O'Hara passed away on January 30 at her home in Los Angeles after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband, production designer Bo Welch, and their two adult sons, Matthew and Luke.
O'Hara's acting career began in the mid‑1970s. Across more than five decades she took part in over fifty films, television series, stage and animated projects, carving out a reputation for versatility and distinctive comic timing.
She rose to widespread fame for her performances in the 'Home Alone' films and in 'Beetlejuice.' Among her more recent screen appearances were roles in the television adaptation of 'The Last of Us' and in the series 'The Studio.'
