Anubis Replaces Train in CS2 Competitive Map Pool — Official Roster of Maps for January 2026 Announced

Developers have announced on the X platform that the map Anubis will be returning to the official competitive map pool in Counter-Strike 2, replacing Train. The same announcement noted that the third season of Premier will conclude on January 19.

Train was added to the game in November 2024 but only entered the official competitive rotation in June 2025, meaning it remained in the tournament map pool for roughly half a year. After its release the map attracted attention for numerous easter eggs, but it failed to become widely popular either in tournament play or in matchmaking.

The first event likely to feature the updated map pool is BLAST Bounty Winter 2026, whose main stage is scheduled to begin on January 22. Anubis had been absent from the rotation since July, when Overpass replaced it.

Prior to this change, the developer had made a lighthearted reference to the possible return of the map Cache to the game, though no formal addition of Cache was confirmed in the recent announcement.

The official CS2 competitive map pool effective January 2026 will consist of the following maps: Anubis, Dust2, Overpass, Ancient, Nuke, Mirage and Inferno.
